What
I Like To Score is a browser-based music creation utility. Using a Flash keyboard tool, a JQuery-powered score display, users are able to enter in notes that can then be converted - using open-source tools - into both sheet music and MP3 format.

3-4-5-3 would be my ratings. The idea is awesome, I played around with an anonymous account—nice touch, btw—and created a score. I’ve seen a lot of great suggestions to improve this on irc, like importing/exporting midi (I know about the .midi url “hack”, which is great)
The UI needs love. It’s understandable, considering that you did it alone, and had to do a lot of other awesome and difficult things :) About completeness, some touches are missing, as I said. Re: innovation. DUDE IT’S AN AWESOME IDEA :D And usefulness…well, I’m not a musician, but even so, my first thought if I had to do something like this would be to use an offline tool. Maybe because I like to Score is still unknown, but still…
Also, great name. Just maybe too catchy ;)
I’m not too keen on the design, but there are certainly some great pieces of technology assembled here in a nice way. I’m not really a musician, so it’s hard for me to judge how useful this is, but I imagine that no serious composers will want to enter music via the mouse and a browser piano. A way to upload existing midi files and features to build communities surrounding those files might be a cool direction to go with this.
This thing is awesome as hell. What a great idea. And done in a weekend. ZOMG
Thanks very much for your feedback! I’m most certainly planning on maintaining this application post-rumble, and I do plan on implementing your suggestions. I’ve modified the http://iliketoscore.com/help page to reflect some of the additions that I didn’t have time to get implemented in the main app.
If you’re interested, you currently have the ability to download the MIDI file for your score by appending .midi to the score URL, though I didn’t provide any sort of link to it (wasn’t sure it would appeal to users).
Thanks again for your helpful feedback!
Great app, but nothing new that existing desktop apps don’t already do. If you continue to develop I’d love to see the midi file downloadable and even the ability to upload a midi file. Multi tracks and multiple instruments would be welcome as well. Good job!
It is very interesting to bring a keyboard to the browser that can be played with the mouse. This is very unique and I imagine must have taken a good chunk of the time to develop. The design could be improved a bit thought.
Overall excellent job.
