What

The app allows tracking of daily goals, and the number of days in a row that the goals are met. The primary interface will be through twitter, with viewing of the data via the browser.

Comments

Aaron – thanks for the nice comment about our project. We had a lot of fun building it and all plan to continue using it after the judging is finished. I think (hope) it has some legs!

And of course, you are right – some people will like it and some not, purely based on individual preferences.

Nice concept, guys. I’m a fan of your site, and I like the use Twitter as the data entry interface. It’s great two ways: 1) It adds accountability (other people see your tweets), and 2) Adds convenience (it’s possible to text immediately post-run, for example).

Re: your ratings so far, I’m with you, to a point. This is one of the problems with the expert judging: every judge doesn’t review every app, and judges have different mental rating scales, not to mention altogether different perspectives. One judge is gonna love Twitter, the next is going to think it’s passe’.

Bruce, I agree with you! I don’t mean to slight Daily Stamp at all, but in the comments here http://r09.railsrumble.com/teams/just-ryan the judge gives a 4 4 4 4 but notes:

A few ticks: Got a 500 trying to change the stamp, but I see what it’s suppose to do per the video. The js trips up in FF when you try illegal moves, like stamping a skip. Some of the counts are off when you stamp around the calendar and switch back and forth between skips and stamps.

Given that comment for a 4 4 4 4 rating, and the fact that all of our code works as intended without error, a 3 3 2 3 does hurt a bit.

Tasaro I really appreciate you taking the to judge our little app. I however feel that the score is a bit disproportionate with the scores of the other apps that produce 500 pages. Ours works, is well tested, does what it says and provides value to the user.

The DailyStamp is very similar to our app.
Daily Stamp right now has a glowing review and a 4444 rating. We offer similar functionality except through Twitter and allow the attachment of photos.

A 2 for innovation feels like the you are saying that this app exists already. I don’t believe that it does. A simple way to track daily intentions(even from your cellphone) and then look back to see how its really going. I mean really a 2 places us below apps where you manage a list of things, ouch.

@tasaro: Thanks for the feedback. Goal reminders was on the list before the rumble, but everything always takes longer than you think. We plan on adding it in the future.

Easy to use, straightforward, and does what it advertises. My issue with a goal tracking app is that I need to be reminded of my goals or it is easy to get distracted. In my opinion it makes this app useful for only a certain personality type.

To see a quick example of the site in use goto:

A couple of features that may not be immediately apparent to users.

  • We inline photos from twitpic and yfrog
  • We have a profanity filter and those tweets are marked and don’t show up on the front page
  • Clicking on the % on the users page will give a stats view

So tweet us some photos as well. You can track the progress of your Elvis sideburns.
