What
Contests Are Awesome lets users create a contest/drawing - tell us what information you want to gather from your entrants, when to start, when to end, and how to pick the winners (Randomly or the First X Entrants) and we'll do the rest. Drop some HTML on your site and people don't even have to come to our site, we'll do it all right there.

The visual design is a bit spartan, but I didn’t have too much trouble creating a contest and signing up. When I tried to submit an entry, I got an error page, and when trying to submit again, it gave an error that the email was already used. The “create entry” button is way over to the side of the page for me (Safari 4), I almost missed it entirely. I’m not sure what the difference is between the “dashboard” and “my contests” pages. They seem to have the same basic content. I couldn’t find a way to see how many entries my contest had from the dashboard. The concept of this is nice, but it needs a lot more work and polish before I’d consider using it for anything important. Concentrate on simplicity and useful customizations.
Peter: Thanks for the kind words. This is actually a project I’ve been wanting to do for a while because I have some novice clients that run contests all the time for promotions, and they definitely are interested in using this. I’m glad to see that you think it can be useful as well. We have a lot of work ahead of us to polish it, but we’re up for that.
I think I can tell you didn’t quite get enough time to finish this, given some of the plain internal styling but… as an idea and as a basic implementation of that idea, I like this! I haven’t seen anything like this before and I can see it being useful. There are a lot of “poll” apps out there but this offers something different. With customized styling for contests and other bells and whistles, I could this becoming an actual service.
