Hi judges,
I have no intention of whining here but I do have some questions;
- There is a search box on every page where users can go to look for beers (homepage and every page in the beers-section). Maybe we’ve made it too small?
- How is innovation measured? It seems an other project with exactly the same concept is rated the maximum for innovation and we have an average of 2
Again, I’m not looking for a discussion or adjustments on rating and I think the rumble-team is doing a great job on this contest! But it would be nice to know on which criteria judging is based and how that reflects on the comments made so far by the judges.
Kind regards,
Dimitri
@jolie: I assume you somehow missed the big search box on the homepage (brown input field, below the logo, above the categories, with the magnifier glass next to it,… we even thought it was to big)…
The other comments I can live with :)
What, no search function? Forcing users to browse through long lists of beers is strange. Also, the UX doesn’t seem to have a good flow. Account creation and self-identification should be easier, as should sorting out a beer-drinker’s taste and allowing him to see recommendations. The beers should be vote-able from every page they appear on, even the lists on the community page. The similarity of the avatars made the recommendations a nightmare. Finally, my wishlist and votes didn’t seem to register on the site at all.
Overall, it seems ambitious for the amount of time alloted for this project. I’d like to see what becomes of this site later, but for now, I find it more frustrating than useful.
I can tell that some thought went into the visual design of this site. The homepage looks very nice. I’m awfully confused about how to get started though. The “what beerdrinker are you?” choices are very odd, and I have no idea which one to pick. This being the case, I’m forced to just randomly click around the site to figure things out. The “beers” page is nicely done, but it takes ages to load a specific beer page. In fact, many pages are slow, and I can’t see any reason why this would be so, for an app of this size and traffic. The “community” page is a mess (Safari 4). Text is all over the place and the stuff on the right sidebar feels very cluttered. Overall, the app seems like a nice concept, but there’s still a long way to go before I’d see myself using it.
